Class Description:
How do you move your partner without verbal commands? How do you create flow from one position to the next? This class will teach partners how to use rope to move together with less risk of falling or other accidents. Pairs will learn sequences that get the body from standing positions down to the ground and back up again. The class covers anatomy fundamentals for moving bodies of all sizes and shapes in rope and shares the techniques needed to do so efficiently. This class is appropriate for most skill levels in rope. Tickets will be sold in tying pairs.
This class is crafted for partnered learning; attendees need to sign up in pairs.
Cost: $60 per tying pair if BOTH members of the tying pair are Premium members. $90 per tying pair otherwise. One ticket admits 2.
Prerequisites:
Equipment/Gear Requirements:
Expectations:
Come dressed to move in comfy, snug-fitting clothing. Jeans are not recommended and loose, drapey clothes can present a challenge during lessons. Avoid wires, buttons, zippers, or anything else that may feel irritating underneath the rope. Consider bringing layers as the indoor heating system can be inconsistent or loud. There are two bathrooms and a water cooler available on site. We will provide padded wrestling mats for exercises.
Instructor Details:
Drea (she/her, @subtly_mean) is a switch that has been doing rope since 2017. She’s been volunteering as a DM at Subspace since moving to Seattle in 2022 and currently co-hosts the RBU:Munch. She loves teaching folks the foundational aspects of rope that move beyond patterns and guiding new bottoms through understanding their body in rope.
Stella (she/her, @blushofalush) is a rope bottom who’s been getting tied up since 2015 and has formed lots of opinions on tying and being tied. She runs the RBU:Munch in North Seattle with Drea (est June 2021) and is the creator/host of the monthly-ish Speed Tying Social.
Both instructors teach with the Bight & Bind Collective (@BightandBind).
